Throughout our years of life, we have often elected to
walk in a manner that was oblivious to the people of history, a people whose sturdy shoes we had been given to fill.
Yes, the Psalms offer such beautiful words from the past, for describing how we must walk on our journey
of faith, “Come and show me your
mercy, as you do for all who love your name. Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil. Ransom me from
the oppression of evil people; then I can obey your commandments.” Psalm 119:132-134 (NLT)
Yet, what must “I do” to follow in the footsteps
of Jesus Christ, what can “I do” to obediently humble myself before the Lord? The journey toward enduring faith
does not begin or end in the present! It started in our past where it grew and was nurtured by people long dead to each of
us, but claimed eternally by God as His children.
What must one do to find faith; to find Jesus Christ?
The answer to the question, you must completely “SURRENDER” yourself to God’s will! Some might be more willing to surrender if God would hand each of
us a contract with all the details filled in.
That's not God's way. God says, "Here's a blank
piece of paper. I want you to sign your name on the bottom line, hand it back and let Me fill in the details. Why? Because
I am God; because I have bought you; because I am trustworthy; because I want you to know how deeply I love you."
“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you
believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation
of your souls.” 1 Peter:8-9 (NIV)
